Question- I'm new

I've been reading a lot on this site.  It has been extremely helpful and certainly makes me realize I am not alone.  My question is this.  I see most all people seem to have an issue with their ADHD spouses being procrastinators, late, and financially lacking (paying bills late or can't keep a job) But my DH is the exact opposite of this.  He is early to everything- to a fault, the minute a bill comes in he pays it, he has had the same job for 14 years, and 12 on the job before that.  These are very good things, but can be very frustrating. >>> Read more >>>

ADHD by association?

Hi!  I am a newcomer to this forum and site (and very thankful that I found it via the book!).  I am a non-ADHD spouse, with a husband and two kids who have ADHD.  The kids (one boy, one girl) were diagnosed about 5 years ago, and are doing very well on meds (Concerta) and lots of support and modifications at school.  My husband has never been formally diagnosed, although we both realize that he has ADHD based on his symptoms and the symptoms we see in our kids.  He recognizes himself as a "classic case."  He recently started taking meds as we are in >>> Read more >>>

Professional Spouse with ADD/OCD

Anyone out there have any pearls of wisdom for the burned-out/angry/hopeless spouse of a physician with ADD & OCD who just can't seem to complete the required paperwork and is constantly running behind schedule during the day, being "dinged" by the EMR system for not going through emails/EMR completions in a timely manner, and who is probably about to be fired for the 4th time? >>> Read more >>>

Helping My Husband Not Miss Appointments

My husband has ADD and one of the things he struggles with is keeping up with appointments that are on his Outlook calendar.  I would love to help him with this, but I do not have Outlook.  I use Google Calendar instead.  Does anyone know if there is a way for his Outlook calendar to automatically notify me by email each time a new appointment is scheduled?  I know one way would be for him to invite me to any appointment he has, but we are looking for a solution that will be automatic, not one that will create more work for him. >>> Read more >>>

Husband fired again!

My husband has happily worked for almost 3 years in a private, government-funded mental health company. He was a peer specialist, which means he has to have a diagnosed mental illness and be successfully treating it. He's had problems with notes, losing cell phones, getting lost (all things associated with ADD). But he was late yesterday because I lost my purse which had his keys in it. He told his boss the truth and today he got fired for it. >>> Read more >>>

What is your strategy for limiting computer time?

I am trying to begin using some tips and suggestions that I have found in various ADHD books to treat some of my symptoms.  One of my biggest issues is extreme HYPERFOCUS.  I can get really obsessed about something and cannot seem to balance it with other areas of my life.  One of the ways that I really struggle with this is trying to make myself get OFF the computer after a reasonable length of time.  I can surf for HOURS and it feels like minutes!  This frequently interferes with other things I need to do (like going to bed at night! >>> Read more >>>
