Differences re: Organization Styles

My wife and I had a short argument this morning about my "need" to have things in a certain place. And as I was trying to explain to her why it matters to me that things are in a certain place, I had an "a-ha" moment. And that is this: >>> Read more >>>

ADD and disability
Submitted by Miss Understood on Tue, 07/27/2010 - 16:16
It has recently come to my attention that under the Americans with Disabilities Act, ADD/ADHD is considered a 'disability'. I don't work outside the home and in fact rarely leave the house. I find the task of applying for disability overwhelming. Has anyone had success with applying and getting disability with ADD? Can you give me some tips? I very much want to move forward with this, but not sure how to go about it. Thank you.

Help for a Frazzled ADHD Mom
Submitted by lillybelle on Thu, 07/22/2010 - 14:44
Hello everyone. I am a mom of 2 boys with ADHD. I also struggle with attention issues of my own. I have really had a hard time with consistency and organization - which I know makes things even more difficult for my sons. They need me to be consistent. I just started using an online family management tool called ADHD Nanny. You can do a search for ADHD Nanny and find it online. Has anyone used this program yet? We just started about a month ago and it has really helped me with the day to day schedule and my kids love it. >>> Read more >>>

Negotiating Differnces in Organizational Styles
Submitted by Looking4Help on Tue, 01/26/2010 - 14:05
My wife has done a great job in learning how to stay organized. She works very hard at it and puts a lot of time into maintaining to do lists and calendars. I can't imagine how disorganizaed she would be, and how chaotic things would be, if she didn't work so hard at this. And for all her work, I am very grateful! >>> Read more >>>

Submitted by brendab on Fri, 12/18/2009 - 13:52
I just want to share a website that has some great action ideas to help those with ADD. I went to a CHADD meeting and the doctor that was faciliating the meeting has some very good pages on her website. She lists great ideas for those who find organizing an impossible task. She also has helpful tips for add children. I think there are some people on here who are ready for these ideas. http://www.addaustin.com/pasttips.html >>> Read more >>>

Leisure time!
Submitted by springerswimmer on Sat, 08/08/2009 - 15:58
Why is it so tough to figure out what to do with leisure time or, more-to-the-point, "non-work" time? Certainly I am challenged at work (Organization, decision-making, and short-term memory are daily struggles) but the real issue for me (and my wife of 36 years) is what happens (or more accurately, what does not happen) during my week-ends and other days off, never mind vacations. >>> Read more >>>
So what are we doing this weekend?
Submitted by needhelp on Thu, 06/04/2009 - 14:24
I'm just curious. Haven't read much about this topic yet and there is no board about "planning".
What happens when you (non-ADD spouse) inquires about what's going to happen the next few days?
In my situation, my ADD spouse will simply be very annoyed with the question. How can he know what he will do this weekend? How does he know how he's going to feel this weekend? How do I dare ask him the question? Wait a minute, I must have a secret plan for asking the question... >>> Read more >>>

Hoarding
Submitted by witsend on Wed, 04/01/2009 - 12:31
My husband and I have been married 16 years. He is a wonderful man but he brings things home and piles them in a corner saying that they will probably be needed one day. His piles have spread out. His car is so full of stuff that he can't even drive it. We have to use another car. I am continually cleaning out our back room to make it functional for company. Our yard is beginning to get out of hand from things and wood that he has accumulated. I don't know what to do. He will not go with me to see someone about getting help. I feel prett >>> Read more >>>

ADD and laziness
Submitted by MKH on Tue, 11/18/2008 - 06:26
Does ADD has anything to do with being lazy and sleepy all the time? My fiance has difficulty getting up early and sleeping at an early hour. He always finds it hard to be on time for work. Im so scared that this will cause him problems at work and i know that the ADD affects his performance. How can i help him without beating him down or making him feel bad about himself? Is this laziness due to ADD or is it something personal that is only due to plain laziness???
