It seems that my husband doesn't hear the noun in the sentence! I know this sounds a bit crazy, but this is my life. When he does hear, his interpretation of what was said is not what is said. Yes, he has taken many hearing tests and everything is fine. At this point he finally agrees that something is wrong, particularly when he hears me say things I've not said. I would like to know if this is all ADHD or is it signs of something else?

There is a condition called central auditory processing disorder that can be co-occurring with ADHD. It has nothing to do with how well you hear- a person with CAPD has perfect hearing. It is a neurological problem where the person doesn't hear what is being said correctly because the brain does not perceive it correctly. They may get pieces of it, or try to piece together what has been said as best they can. It can be detected in a psychological evaluation or by an audiologist. However, sometimes people with ADHD do not hear/process a conversation very clearly because it is a part of having ADHD. Communication issues are a huge problem.
CAPD

This is what I thought was going on. I've read about the auditory disorder. The literature is all child related. Nothing about what happens when that child becomes an adult. I am a solution seeking person. I would like to find a solution for this. I do see that when he takes his adderall, the "hearing" problem calms down a lot. We live six months in NC, six months in GA. Living like this, although great for us, is not great for getting or keeping a doctor who will prescribe to my husband. Very frustrating because when he's out of meds, a large cloud of depression looms over him. If you know where I can find possible solutions to adult CAPD, I would appreciate you showing me.
