Finance and Emotions

Quote of the Week

“Solving financial problems starts with understanding the emotional drivers of our behavior.”

-Rick Webster, who started Rena-fi to teach how to create a stable financial picture

Finance and Emotions

Webster, a man with ADHD himself, is familiar with the emotions that can lead to spending money impulsively.  Spending to relieve stress.  Spending because pushing the buy button provides a dopamine sense of excitement.  Spending because your partner says you can’t, and “she’s not the boss of me!”

Webster’s own life experiences with ADHD and money inspired him to start as a place for adults with ADHD to learn more about their own financial management.  As Webster says, “It’s not about getting more money.  It’s about getting stable so you can build a life.”  Sounds quite similar to my own relationship advice, right?  Treatment for ADHD is about creating enough stability…
