I jokingly like refer to myself as a wife who was in a previous life a man who did not appreciate his wife. I feel that this relationship is the purgatory I have to go thru to redeem myself. My question is that after 22 years, I am exhausted, depressed, angry.... and some, and really really doubtful this could ever work. Especially considering his constant unkept promises. Yes there has been progress very recently, but I feel at the end of my rope and that its just too little, too late.

I've been dating my boyfriend for around three and a half months now. Things got pretty serious pretty quick, as I've come to understand ADHD relationships do (what with the hyperfocus and such). We're long distance, he lives in IL and I live all the way in Ontario, so sometimes we miss each other lots.

I am a 26 year old active duty,wife, and mother with ADHD. We have been married two years, and I have been actively seeking therapy and making tremendous progress. Unfortunately, my husband has no real "desire" to learn about this disorders symptoms. He says that he understands, but that is a crock of sh!t. He intentionaly plays with my compulsive nature and uses it against me later. I am frequently verbally abused and he even cheated on me. I have been trying so hard to "understand" his needs as a man, but I do not get the same thing in return.

"Are you doing this on purpose?" I asked him, tears streaming down my face, "because I am trying really, really hard to work this out, right now. "Yup," he said smugly, smirking at me.

And that was it. I lost it and smacked him across the face. "Get out. Get out now."

I'm the husband of the rarer marriage where the wife has ADD, which was formally diagnosed a few years ago.  What I did helped and I believe that it can help regardless of the genders.

Does anyone know anything current about the Adderall shortage??

Here is a little background for you. I am new to the site but many of the stories are too painfully up my alley.

My husband was diagnosed with ADHD and Bi-polar, which includes depression and anxiety.... We have been married for almost 6 years, and after about our first MAGICAL 3 mos its been a real struggle. We have had 6 different counselors, both individual and marriage, it seems to get better for awhile but ALWAYS goes back to the same crap. We've made some huge progress lately and though he's not addressing it directly with me I suspect he is checking ADHD out on his own.  I am noticing big efforts on his part.

I need some example of how to word things I need him to do without making him feel tense or reactive.  For example he volunteered to take care of something that was bothering me but has yet to get to it a week later.

I would like to discuss the issues in more depth without it always seeming like we're going to have yet another conversation about our relationship.

I met my husband in high school. We immediately became best friends and hung out with a small group of people. We never dated, just had a lot of fun together. 4 years later we reconnected and he told his mother after seeing me while visiting home from the Navy that I  was "the girl he was going to marry". We decided that we would give dating a shot, why not right? So we had an amazing week which I don't blame on ADD because it was that "new" love which is always so amazing. He left Indiana for Florida where he was going to be stationed. That was January.
