I have been reading the posts on this site for several days with great interest. I think that my husband of almost 23 years may have undiagnosed ADD/ADHD . I can relate very closely to many of the comments posted by non-ADHD spouses.

This is my first time posting. I have so many questions, but I'll try to stick to just one fir now. My husband has been diagnosed with ADHD by a psychiatrist who specializes in adult ADD stuff. He takes meds for anxiety, but has so far refused to take anything else. (Adderrall turned him into a manic, angry mess, so he's a bit gun shy. Our lives are an ADHD rollercoaster. I try to operate within our marriage in a kind of loving detachment, but it is hard. Every few months there seems to come some kind of breaking point in him.

My husband is the ADHD one in our marriage.  I've been close to "done" many times, but I also took vows and we continue with our mantra that "divorce is not an option."  Married for almost 21 years, together for 26+.  Two teenagers, a dog, and two cats.  He was diagnosed in 2004.

Sigh..

 

 

 

My husband has finally agreed to get ADHD testing (because we almost separated because of it!).  Any suggestions on what is the best kind of person to go to for testing, are some test better than others? I saw a local place advertised that does testing $150 for initial consult, then they also do marriage counseling which would also benefit us.  Any advice, is it best to get testing from a place u can also get counseling? etc, thnx

 

 

Ok it has been 7 days since Dh and I have begun (what I call) our in house separation.  And what a week it has been! Things started off kind of rough for me, but as I began to take control of my life things have certainly improved.
