My husband is the ADHD spouse, but I don't get to call myself the "NT spouse."
Nope-- I'm the spouse with Level 1 Autism Spectrum Disorder.
We've been together since 98, married since 01. Fourteen years next month.
H is working 2nd shift. He usually gets home at 11PM but last night worked OT and didn't come home until 1AM. He comes home and takes a shower in our master bath, you know at 1AM while I'm trying to sleep right outside that door! He does it because I wake up every time he comes home so he assumes it's ok to shower there rather than in the other bathroom! Then he goes into the computer room. I acn hear him playing his damn video game anytime I wake up! I get up at 5:30 and he still has not come to bed. I get up and he's all chipper and says "Oh I'll make us some breakfast.

I just don't know anymore. In some ways I wish he did have ADHD as that would explain the behavior. He told me he was diagnosed with this when he was a kid, but then he also thinks that the government did secret experiments on him when he was in elementary school as well.
Seeking thoughts and opinions relating to cause and effect of potential ADD? or just two people with personality conflict?
Hi guys, I found this site after Googling for ADD/ADHD info. I could really use someone to talk to about this. I'm new to this forum and so glad to have found it. My boyfriend of 3 years has ADHD and knows it, however, I'm not sure it was ever medically diagnosed and I know he's never received treatment for it. He retired from a successful business last April and is progressively getting worse with his symptoms and behaviors. I've realized that before he retired he had several employees to take care of many of the things he's having such a hard time with now, and he had a schedule which helped, even though he's chronically late to everything.
My household is an ADHD nightmare. I recognize I've had it all my life, but with the help of a cup of coffee manage to keep it together plus homeschool our 5 kids and everything else - and I do mean EVERYTHING. It's like I'm the only adult in our house. He does work 12 hours a day, but when he comes home he STARES at his phone and can't seem to stop. He watches video after video on youtube about stupid stuff like elderly people falling down escalators. He can be so irritable and hateful to me and the kids.
As spouses/partners go...aren't the Impulsive and Inattentive/Impulsive types the most difficult to live with?
What are your opinions?
(I know this isn't a contest for "which is worst"...lol...but when reading some posts about whether a NonADHD person should run for the hills when confronted with an ADHD dating partner, I think one of the biggest consideration should be whether the Impulsive element is there and how THAT manifests itself. )
