My husband was a very intelligent, funny, adventuresome, loving man.   He has always provided well for us, has had a very steady work history, and wanted to spend time together (bowling, vacations, ect.) He didn't need to be the center of attention, he was quiet and witty. Then ADD became dominate in his life and things began to unravel.

We have 23 years together, 2 kids, a house and a history together. Our future is not looking bright.

He has ADD is on fluxotine and dextroamphetamine XR (depression and ADD) and therapy once a week. 

Is there any evidence of this?

My husband has recently been diagnosed with ADD at age 42. No family history that I can see (in fact, everyone is a high achiever, professional, successful.)

My husband is very smart, well educated. He was a heavy pot smoker at a young age (12 or 13 to about 18.) He no longer smokes pot but does have some issues with alcohol.

Thoughts?

I've been checking out this site for the last year +. Finding it is a large part of the reason I was able to remain with my partner after three years of asking him, "What is wrong with you?! Why are you such a jerk, sometimes? Why don't you know how to treat people?!" He'd told me that he'd been diagnosed with ADD when he was younger, but I'd never bothered to do further research about what that meant. I've had friends who have ADD/ADHD and it never affected my life negatively. They just seemed to need to develop some special techniques to manage their study habits in school.

I've read a bit about ADD symptoms, and they seem to fit my husband to a T.  Can anyone tell me if my suspicions are accurate?  Here are some of his traits that are red flags:

My husband takes 60mg of Vyvance in the morning which seems to be working. The problem is it wears off before he gets home which means there is really not benefit of any medication in the evening. He's taken aderall and it makes him worse. Will taking a higher dosage of Vyvance help or are there other short acting drugs out there which he should talk to his doctor about?

Hello group,

My partner was diagnosis with ADHD.  The Dr has said he is off the charts and we are working to get him meds. My question is "is paranoia a symptom?" He has this feeling that I am cheating on him?

I'm hoping for some support and feedback on walking the line between enabling and support for my ADD spouse. I didn't see this in any forums but am new to the site and probably missed it.

I have so many thoughts that this may come out as a massive jumble.

My husband was out of his meds for a few days and while I had gotten used to him WITH his meds, no fighting, calm, etc., the difference was astounding! Oh. my. gosh.  If anyone ever doubted that ADHD exists (I have it so I know all too well...) then I have a story to tell!

A big problem I have is my kids seem to feel like they are allowed to avoid certain responsibilities/activities/tasks because they find those things boring.  I am starting to wonder if it has to do with my husband's ADHD behavior.  So, I thought I would see if anyone else experiences this problem.
