Recently in a "moment of clarity" my husband of 6 years (who was diagnosed with ADHD about 3 years ago) has decided that our marriage is too difficult and that despite the fact that we got along before- we just don't "click". We've known each other since childhood, so this is difficult to accept.

My husband has the worst case of lose-itis I've ever run into. I'd like to know if any of you have found ways to treat this in yourselves, you spouses or your children.

By now most of you know that my husband is reading Melissa's book and when he's done I plan to talk to him about finding a coach to help me, and possibly us as a couple.  So that I can be ready for that conversation when he finishes the book, I have been trying to find resources in the area where we live and contact some potential coaches to get some information.  

Well, lately I have been very active on this site and many people have commented about how much my posts have helped and enlightened them.  However...you can probably deduce from the sheer quantity of my posts in the past few days how many hours I have spent on this stupid computer.  That naturally means I have not been doing other things...IMPORTANT things!  This is where I turn my "Good" strength (written communication skills, compassion for others) into a "Bad" or a weakness/failure, because I will hyper-focus on such written communication and ignore my more pressing responsibilities.

This is my second marriage and my husband's (who has ADD) 4th. When I fell in love with and married my husband he was taking Welbutrin. After we were married (3 years ago)  he took himself off Welbutrin and stopped taking Adderal. He said he's fine and doesn't need it..... And that his psychiatrist agrees (The 10 minute phone call once a month psychiatrist). I can go about a month being loving, supportive, patient, tip toeing around his defensiveness and sensitivity and being invisible before I get angry..... I get really, really angry and try to hurt him verbally.

Are headaches a common side effect from ADD meds?

My 13 yr old son and I both have ADD (without the H).  He is having headaches almost daily.  They are not debilitating headaches, just nagging, and they seem to usually hit in the afternoons (maybe 2pm-ish) and last for 2-3 hours.   I suspect it is from his medication, but I am not sure?  He is currently taking Vyvanse, 50mg.  (I recently had his vision checked, so I know that is not causing the headaches.)

As an ADHD-adult, my actions, non-actions or words are often misinterpreted, much to my chagrin.  I am beginning to believe that relationship problems stemming from ADHD are actually just a huge set of repeated misunderstandings.  I have realized that frequently, someone I love or care about, or maybe even someone I just met, will INTERPRET something I do or say (or don't do or say), thinking that I was "sending a message" of some kind.

I've stepped away from this site for several days and decided to look back at some old posts from some others. I did not want to comment on a post from a year ago because I wanted to revisit history in the present.

Howdy All- I recently posted a bit about our diagnostic oddessy for my DH in the appropriate section. I am currently experiencing a profound sense of loss and sadness despite it looking like we may have finally found a name for this thing that has affected our lives so tragically. My DSS has been diagnosed with combined type impulsive/ inattentive, so it stands to reason, based on discussions with the child psychologist, that this is what is crippling my husbands interactions, as well. I am so very lonely for my husbands love and affection.

We are currently waiting for my husbands referral to go through for the local area psychiatrist that does adult ADHD diagnostic testing.

My DSS was recently diagnosed and during the process my spouse began realizing that he heavily related to what we came to know as symptoms during the process.

My husband has been being treated for 'depression' by our family doctor without significant results for probably two years.
